Unemployment assistance

Unemployment assistance is payable to the unemployed to enable them to maintain a minimum standard of living for themselves and their families. Recipients are usually unemployed with an insufficient contributions’ record or those who have exhausted entitlement to unemployment insurance benefits. Unemployment assistance is usually means-tested and so dependent on the claimant’s income and other specified resources being below a certain level.
